How this calculator works

What’s included and what’s not?
Included: depreciation (price minus PARF rebate), loan interest (flat rate), fuel, road tax, insurance, parking, ERP, servicing, one-time accessories and upgrades, and an annual accident provision (excess, NCD loss, uncovered repairs). Not included: fines and any resale value above the paper (PARF) value — so for cars sold on the used market before 10 years, treat the result as conservative.
How is the PARF rebate computed?
ARF is computed from your OMV using the current tiers (100% of the first $20k, 140%, 190%, 250%, then 320% above $80k). The rebate is a percentage of that ARF based on the car’s age at deregistration — 5–30% capped at $30,000 under the Budget 2026 schedule, or 50–75% capped at $60,000 for cars with COEs from before the February 2026 second bidding.
Why is my road tax figure an input?
Road tax depends on engine size or motor power and changes with rebates and surcharges. Typical Cat A cars pay roughly $700–$800 a year; EVs pay by power output plus a $700 flat component. Enter your exact figure from OneMotoring for precision.
